More than 850 guests attended this moving celebration, which highlighted the role of people as the cornerstone of the agri-food cooperative’s success over the past five decades

Valencia, 26 March 2026

Anecoop, a leading Spanish agri-food cooperative specialising in the marketing of fruit and vegetables, celebrated its 50th anniversary this afternoon in the Auditorium of the Palau de Les Arts Reina Sofía at the City of Arts and Sciences in Valencia. In a moving ceremony, its president, Alejandro Monzón, and its managing director, Joan Mir, both emphasised that “We are celebrating half a century of shared history and values, of unity, collective effort and a deep commitment to agriculture, the land and people”.

More than 850 guests gathered to commemorate five decades of history, in a ceremony primarily dedicated to recognising and thanking all those who, since its foundation in 1975, have made possible Anecoop’s progress until it became established as an international benchmark for agri-food cooperativism: founders, members of the Governing Council (current and former), partner organisations, farmers, professional teams from the Anecoop Group, suppliers, collaborators, organisations and institutions from the agri-food, scientific and academic sectors, and the media.

To all of them, the president of Anecoop, Alejandro Monzón, addressed the gathering with the words: “Thank you for believing in this project. Thank you for believing in the power of cooperativism.” Looking to the future, he noted: “Today we continue to build together what others will carry forward. Through unity, which multiplies, protects, drives and guarantees the future. Because when Anecoop moves forward, an entire sector and its people move forward – our very reason for being.”

Joan Mir, CEO of Anecoop, has outlined the achievements and key milestones reached over the past half-century by an organisation he has described as “adaptable, global, diversified, innovative and deeply resilient”. He concluded his speech by focusing on one of the sector’s greatest challenges – generational renewal – addressing his final words to the younger generation: “You have the great responsibility of feeding future generations. We need your energy, your creativity, your talent and your capacity for transformation. You are the future. Our history is in your hands.”
